Maybe I am wrong. I don't think it is ok to lie to my kids. I don't think they always need to know the whole truth, but certainly if it is a matter that affects their lives, they deserve to know the truth.
I have a monster rant in me about this, but am really trying to keep it in somewhat, as a very good friend has told a very big lie to their kids, and now my kids have to carry on that lie too. I don't think they can do it - not for a lifetime, that's for sure. What good can come of this? None that I can see. Whether my kids tell or not - someone will tell, and those kids are going to realize their parents are liars. And what have I tought my kids? Oy. I tried to make them understand, but the lesson has been learned.
